Classification of bridge cranes:
1. General-purpose overhead cranes are general-purpose overhead
cranes working in general environment.
2. Grab type overhead cranes are mainly used for loading, unloading
and lifting operations of bulk cargoes, scrap steel, timber and so

of this crane are the same as those of general-purpose hook-type

3.Three-purpose bridge crane is a multi-purpose crane. Its basic
structure is the same as the electromagnetic bridge crane. It can

Safe operation of overhead cranes:
The first thing you should do is check the brakes, hooks, ropes,
safety devices, etc. If any abnormalities are found, they should be
resolved before continuing the operation.
Operations should be conducted in accordance with signaling
instructions, and emergency stop signals should be carried out
immediately, no matter who issues them.
When turning off the power, it should be confirmed that no one is
around.
In case of sudden power failure during work, the control power
should be turned on. Before resuming work, the crane should be
checked for normal operation.
When the operator carries out maintenance, the main power supply
should be disconnected and a sign should be placed or locked. The
supervisor shall be notified if any unresolved faults exist.
Signal commands shall be clear and in accordance with regulations.
Corners through which ropes or chains pass should be padded.
When an object is commanded to rotate, its center of gravity should
undergo a steady change to avoid unintended movement.
Prior contact with the crane operator and use of support devices
should be made before going underneath a suspended heavy object.
When more than one person is involved in the work, only one person
should be responsible for giving orders.
